Online Events Calendar
One of the (few) bright spots of the pandemic is the number of virtual programs — talks, exhibits, tours, discussions, and more — available online, removing the requirement of in-person attendance. The Jane Austen/Regency world has a growing number of online events of interest to our community. We’ve set up this Online Event Calendar to help you find some of them. Please check the listings and be sure to convert the event times (which are local to the organizers) to your location. To submit an event for the calendar, email news@jasnanorcal.org Note: JASNA regional events are also listed on the organization’s web site: http://jasna.org/conferences-events/

Austen and Shakespeare
June 16, 2022 @ 8:00 am – June 19, 2022 @ 5:00 pm PDT
The Jane Austen Summer Program is pleased to announce its next symposium — “Austen & Shakespeare” — June 16-19, 2022, at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Carrboro, N.C., and at various locations on the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill, N.C. This year’s conference explores the influences and the legacies of the two beloved authors, centering on “Mansfield Park,” “All’s Well That Ends Well” and “King Lear.” Speakers include: food historian and stylist Dan Macey on Elizabethan and Regency food traditions; UNC professor Mary Floyd-Wilson on dispositions in Shakespeare and Austen, and UNC professor Pamela Bond on the laws of dress. Events include small-group discussions, an English tea, Austen-inspired theatricals, a Regency murder mystery, special exhibits, and sewing and creative writing workshops. Founded by UNC’s Inger Brodey and James Thompson in 2013, the Jane Austen Summer Program is designed to appeal to scholars, K-12 teachers, graduate students, undergraduate students and Austen fans — anyone with a passion for all things Austen is welcome and encouraged to attend!
